S60 Grouping

I just want to share about the basic knowledge of S60 mobiles which nowadays is the most platform used on hi-tech mobile phones then in fact, most of the users don't know.

All S60 mobiles use Symbian OS.Just like a PC(Personal Computer) which has Windows OS, in mobile there is Symbian OS, beside there are another OS such Windows Mobile,Palm etc.

But on this context, we focuss on S60 which using Symbian OS.S60 mobile has something different, it has special menu button, mostly has pencil button, and allow you multitasking (this mean that you can run more than 1 program in the same time and minimize another program like in PC).If your mobile has it, that is Series 60 mobile phone!

On its first release,The first S60 is version 1 which using Symbian 6.0, it only just lika a standard OS but still few personalization setting.So on the first release, S60mobile phones just alike standard phone nowaday, but you can install application software to improve its ability such mp3 player as on s60 ver1 not support any music files except midi and wav. And its UI still doesn't support theme or skin, but there are a lot of application can be installed to cover its lack.But too much application installed can make your mobile hang or slow down its performance. Besides, every supported media files are separated such image files can be opened in 'Image' and sound files in 'Recorder' though this version still poor of supported media files.
THE mobile phones wihch using S60 V1 are Nokia 7650,3650,3660

S60 v2, there are some improvement in this version. S60v2 still divided into 2parts as it released in Symbian OS 7 and Symbian OS 8. Both differences is on its UI and menu grouping.In Symbian OS 7 the files are grouped between files in phone memory and files in memory card, then in Symbian OS 8 the files are united,such its gallery and theme. But mostly, both are same, not like the previous version, now all media files supported can be opened in gallery, then now you don't worry to borred by its screen as there is added 'Theme' menu which allow you to change the icon,background,etc of menu relates on its screen appearance.And this is importent thing too,that software which installed on S60v1 can't run on this version such its back.

Some s60v2 with Symbian OS 8 are Nokia 6630,6680,6681,N70

S60v3, this is the latest S60 version. There are much improvement in this version as it using Symbian OS 9.x. There is new standarization for s60 mobile's UI such its screen resolution using 320x240 pixel.And improvement on visualization of 'Music Player menu'.And a different then previous version, now 'Theme' is included in 'Setting' menu.
